  • Waititi also voices and performs Korg, making him both the film’s director and one of its recurring comic narrators.

Cast / Casting

  • Chris Hemsworth returned as Thor, making him the first MCU hero to lead four solo films.
  • Natalie Portman returned as Jane Foster and became the Mighty Thor, adapting elements from Jason Aaron’s Marvel Comics run.
  • Christian Bale joined the MCU as Gorr the God Butcher.
  • Tessa Thompson returned as Valkyrie, now ruling New Asgard as king.
  • The movie includes appearances from several Guardians of the Galaxy characters early in the story.

Soundtrack / Score

  • Michael Giacchino and Nami Melumad composed the film’s score.

Location

  • Production took place primarily in Australia.
  • New Asgard continues the MCU’s use of Norway as Thor’s Earth-based community setting.

  • The film was produced by Kevin Feige and Brad Winderbaum for Marvel Studios.
  • It is the 29th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
  • The movie adapts parts of the Mighty Thor and Gorr the God Butcher comic arcs, but reshapes them into a shorter MCU adventure.

  • Its rock-opera style continues the bright comedic tone of Thor: Ragnarok.
  • For fans of the comics, Jane lifting Mjolnir was the big nostalgia-meets-adaptation moment.
  • The movie also plays with Thor’s long MCU history, from his lost family to his breakup with Jane and his post-Avengers identity crisis.

Easter Eggs

  • Jane Foster’s Mighty Thor storyline is inspired by Jason Aaron’s acclaimed comic run.
  • Gorr the God Butcher also comes from Jason Aaron’s Thor comics.
