- The film brings Raimi’s horror-comedy style into the MCU, especially through demonic imagery, jump scares, cursed books, extreme close-ups, possessed bodies, and darkly funny violence.
- The movie replaced original director Scott Derrickson, who remained credited as an executive producer.

- Elizabeth Olsen returned as Wanda Maximoff / Scarlet Witch after the events of WandaVision.

Soundtrack / Score
- Danny Elfman composed the film’s score.
- Elfman had previously worked with Sam Raimi on multiple films, including Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2.

- The musical-note battle between Strange variants is one of the film’s most literal uses of music as magic and combat.
Location
- The story jumps between New York City, Kamar-Taj, Earth-838, the gap junction, collapsing universes, and other multiverse locations.
- Production took place primarily in the United Kingdom.
- Longcross Studios in Surrey was used for major production work.

- Kevin Feige produced the film for Marvel Studios.
- The movie was released by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.
- It opened domestically to approximately $187.4 million and became one of the biggest global releases of 2022.

Nostalgia

- Sam Raimi fans get plenty of his signature tricks, including aggressive camera moves, horror framing, monstrous makeup, and Bruce Campbell abuse.
- The Illuminati sequence became one of the movie’s biggest nostalgia swings, mixing Marvel Comics references with legacy casting.
- For viewers who followed WandaVision, the film turns Wanda’s grief into full-blown multiverse horror.
Easter Eggs
- The Illuminati lineup includes Professor X, Captain Carter, Black Bolt, Captain Marvel, Mordo, and Reed Richards.
- Patrick Stewart’s Xavier entrance includes visual and musical nods to earlier X-Men adaptations.
- Captain Carter continues the alternate-history idea introduced in Marvel’s What If...?
- Black Bolt’s appearance pays off Anson Mount’s prior role from Marvel’s Inhumans.
- The post-credits scene introduces Clea, played by Charlize Theron.
