Your privacy matters.
This policy explains what information 3 Guys and a Flick collects through our website, embedded tools and companion mobile app, why we use it and the choices available to you.
1. Scope of this policy
This Privacy Policy applies to 3guysandaflick.com, the tools and forms embedded in or linked from the website and the 3 Guys and a Flick companion app for iOS and Android (collectively, the “Services”).
The Services are intended for a general audience. They are not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
2. Information we collect
Listener movie ratings
When you rate a movie in the app, we receive a randomly generated anonymous user identifier, the movie rated and the rating selected. The identifier is tied to the app installation and is not intentionally connected to your name, email address or other information that directly identifies you.
The Helmet movie suggestions
When you suggest a movie through The Helmet on the website or app, we collect the movie title, the name you enter and any optional explanation you provide. The submitted name may be displayed publicly with the suggestion in our Waiting to Be Reviewed or Already Reviewed lists and may be used to credit the suggestion on the show.
Contact and feedback forms
When you contact us through the website or app, we collect the information you choose to submit. Depending on the form, this may include an optional name, a required email address, an optional phone number, a message, feedback category and app diagnostic details such as the app version and screen from which a bug was reported. We use this information to read and respond to your message or investigate the reported problem.
Information stored only on your device
In the app, favorites and saved items, playback positions, downloaded episode files, listening history and dismissed-prompt settings are stored locally on your device. The app does not transmit this local information to us unless a feature clearly tells you otherwise before transmission.
Website analytics and technical data
Our website currently uses Google Analytics through Google Site Kit and Jetpack Stats. These services may collect or receive technical and usage information such as pages viewed, interactions, referring pages, browser and device type, operating system, approximate location derived from an IP address, date and time of access and cookie or similar-technology identifiers. We use this information to understand site traffic, diagnose problems and learn which content and features are useful. We do not use this information to build advertising profiles or send marketing messages.
Voicemails through SpeakPipe
Voicemail recording takes place through SpeakPipe’s service. SpeakPipe may collect the recording and any name or email address you choose to provide. The recording is hosted and processed by SpeakPipe, not directly by our website or app, and is governed by SpeakPipe’s Privacy Policy. A submitted voicemail may be reviewed by the hosts and may be played or quoted on the podcast.
Links to other services
The Services link to platforms including YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts/iTunes and other third-party sites. When you follow one of those links, the destination service may collect information under its own privacy policy. We do not control those services. Apple and Google may also collect device, diagnostic, download and store-account information as part of operating the App Store and Google Play independently of our app.
3. How we use information
- Listener ratings: to save your rating and calculate the public Listener Rating after at least three people have rated a movie.
- Helmet submissions: to track and manage listener suggestions, identify duplicates and publicly credit the person who submitted a selection.
- Contact and bug reports: to read and reply to messages, provide support and investigate technical problems.
- Analytics and technical information: to understand site usage, maintain reliability and improve content and navigation.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use submitted information for paid advertising or marketing communications and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.
4. Services that process information
We use a limited number of service providers to operate the Services:
- Supabase provides database, backend and anonymous authentication services for listener ratings and app-connected features. See Supabase’s Privacy Policy.
- Resend provides email delivery for contact messages and submission notifications. See Resend’s Privacy Policy.
- SpeakPipe records, processes and hosts listener voicemails. See SpeakPipe’s Privacy Policy.
- Google Analytics / Google Site Kit provides website traffic and interaction analytics. See Google’s Privacy Policy.
- Jetpack Stats / Automattic provides website visit statistics. See Automattic’s Privacy Policy.
The WordPress REST API, podcast RSS feed and movie-content sources such as TMDB supply content that the app reads. We do not intentionally send your listener ratings, saved items or contact-form information to those content sources.
5. Cookies and similar technology
Google Analytics, Jetpack Stats and essential WordPress features may use cookies, pixels, local storage or similar technologies. These help the website function, measure visits and understand how pages are used. You can restrict or delete cookies through your browser settings, although doing so may affect some site features.
At this time, we do not use third-party advertising cookies or sell information collected through cookies.
6. Data retention
Listener ratings are retained until you delete them through the in-app Delete My Ratings option, the anonymous app identity is deleted or we remove them as part of maintenance or a valid request.
Helmet submissions are generally retained until they are reviewed, selected, removed or manually deleted. Because the Helmet provides a historical record of suggestions and reviewed selections, some submissions may be retained without a fixed expiration date.
Contact messages and related email correspondence are retained until they are no longer reasonably needed to respond, document the conversation, address abuse or resolve a technical issue. We do not currently follow a fixed automatic deletion schedule for these messages.
7. Your choices and privacy rights
- Delete My Ratings: the app’s deletion option removes listener ratings associated with your anonymous app identity from Supabase.
- Clear Local Data: the app’s local-data option clears saved items, playback positions, downloads, listening history and related on-device settings.
- Helmet and contact information: because these submissions are not connected to an ongoing user account, correction or removal requests must be handled manually. Use our Contact page and provide enough information for us to identify the submission.
- Analytics controls: you may block or delete cookies through your browser and use privacy or tracking-protection features provided by your browser or device.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of certain personal information. We will respond to verified requests as required by applicable law.
8. Children’s privacy
The Services are not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted personal information through the Services, please contact us so we can investigate and remove it where appropriate.
9. Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards appropriate to the information we handle. These include encrypted network connections and database access controls, including row-level security designed to limit anonymous app users to their own rating records. No online service or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure, however.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our practices, technology or legal obligations change. The effective and last-updated date at the top of this page will show the most recent revision. If a change is significant, we may also provide notice through the website or app.
