Our Website

This section explains how 3guysandaflick.com handles information when you browse the site, use its tools and forms, listen to episodes, submit a movie suggestion, sign up for updates, or follow links to third-party services.

Information you choose to provide

The Helmet movie suggestions. The website's movie-suggestion form collects the movie title, the name you enter and an optional comment. The submission is stored in Supabase. The name you submit may be displayed publicly with the suggestion and may be used to credit the suggestion on the show. A notification about a new submission may also be emailed to the show's hosts.

Contact form. The Contact page embeds a Netlify-hosted form. It asks for a required first name and email address, an optional last name and phone number and a required message. The information is submitted to our website backend so we can read and respond to the message. The form also uses a hidden spam-trap field to help reduce automated submissions.

Newsletter signup. The Shop page includes an Elementor newsletter form that asks for a name and email address and is presented as a way to receive podcast, episode and merchandise updates. If you submit that form, we use the information for the updates you requested and related subscription administration. The form is configured to send new-signup information to the site operator by email. We did not find an active Mailchimp, ActiveCampaign, ConvertKit, MailerLite, Drip or GetResponse connection on that form.

Voicemails through SpeakPipe. If you choose to leave a voicemail, recording takes place on SpeakPipe's service rather than directly on this website. SpeakPipe may collect the recording and any information you choose to provide there. A submitted voicemail may be reviewed by the hosts and may be played or quoted on the podcast.

Analytics and technical information

The website currently uses Google Analytics through Google Site Kit and Jetpack Stats. These services may collect or receive information such as pages viewed, interactions, referring pages, browser and device type, operating system, approximate location derived from an IP address, date and time of access and cookie or similar-technology identifiers. We use this information to understand traffic, diagnose problems and improve the site.

Our web host, security tools, caching services and content-delivery providers may also receive standard technical request information, such as IP address, browser information and request timestamps, as part of operating, securing and delivering the website.

Cookies and consent

Google Analytics, Jetpack Stats, WordPress and other site features may use cookies, local storage or similar technologies. You can restrict or delete cookies through your browser settings, although doing so may affect some site features.

The website does not currently use a dedicated cookie-consent banner. We also did not find an active advertising network or Google AdSense module on the site.

Comments

Public WordPress comments are currently disabled, and current episode posts have comments closed. We therefore do not currently collect visitor information through a public WordPress comment form.

Embedded audio, players, tools and external services

The website uses or links to third-party media and podcast services, including Podbean, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, YouTube, iHeartRadio, Amazon Music, Overcast, Podcast Addict and Podchaser. The homepage currently serves podcast audio from Podbean, and episode pages can load third-party player content. When a third-party player or resource is loaded, or when you follow an outbound link, that provider may receive standard technical information and may use cookies or similar technologies under its own privacy policy.

Some interactive website tools are hosted separately and embedded into 3guysandaflick.com, including the Contact form and the Needle Dropper. These embedded tools are currently hosted on Netlify. Loading an embedded tool may cause Netlify and the tool's supporting services to receive standard request information such as your IP address and browser details.

Movie and music features may also use third-party content sources such as TMDB, Deezer and Apple/iTunes. Those services operate under their own privacy policies for the data needed to provide their content.

How we use and share website information

• Helmet submissions: to manage listener suggestions, identify duplicate titles, display suggestions and credit submitters.
• Contact messages: to read and respond to messages, provide support and address technical or other questions.
• Newsletter signups: to provide the updates described where you signed up and to administer that subscription.
• Analytics and technical information: to understand site usage, maintain reliability, prevent abuse and improve content and navigation.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share information you submit with third parties for their own independent marketing. We may share information with service providers that process it for us as needed to operate the website and its features.

Service providers that may process website information

• Google Analytics / Google Site Kit for website traffic and interaction analytics.
• Jetpack Stats / Automattic for website visit statistics and related WordPress services.
• Supabase for The Helmet submission data and other connected website features.
• Netlify for hosting embedded website tools such as the Contact form and Needle Dropper.
• SpeakPipe for listener voicemail recording and hosting.
• Podcast and media providers such as Podbean, Spotify, Apple and YouTube when their content is loaded or their services are opened.

Data retention

Helmet submissions may be retained as part of the show's historical suggestion and review records until they are removed or no longer needed. Contact messages and related correspondence are retained until they are no longer reasonably needed to respond, document the conversation, address abuse or resolve a technical issue. Newsletter information is retained while needed to administer the updates you requested or until you ask us to remove it. Analytics and technical records are retained according to the settings and retention practices of the services that process them.

Your choices and privacy rights

You can block or delete cookies using your browser or device controls. You may also ask us to correct or remove information you submitted through The Helmet, the Contact form or the newsletter form. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of certain personal information. Use the contact information at the end of this policy for privacy requests.

Children's privacy

The website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted personal information through the website, contact us so we can review and remove it where appropriate.

Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards appropriate to the information we handle, including encrypted network connections and access controls. No online service or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.

The 3 Guys and a Flick App

We built this app to be as private as a companion app can be. There's no account, no sign-up, and no name or email required to use the app's core features — rating movies, tracking what you've listened to, and getting notified about new episodes. Here's exactly what the app does and doesn't do with your data.

Your anonymous identity

The first time you rate a movie or enable notifications, the app creates a completely anonymous identity for your device: a random ID with no name, email, or phone number attached. This is the only "account" the app has, and you never see it or set it up. It's what lets your ratings and notification preferences follow you across app restarts.

What we store, and why

• Listener ratings: the star rating you give a movie, tied to your anonymous ID. This powers "Your Flick Profile" and lets us show catalog-wide fan stats like average ratings.
• Listening and download activity: an anonymous record that you finished listening to or downloaded a specific episode, tied to your anonymous ID. We don't record what you did within an episode. This powers catalog-wide stats like "most listened episode" once enough people use the app.
• Push notification settings: your device's push token and which notification types you've turned on, tied to your anonymous ID, so we know where to send a "new episode" alert if you've asked for one.

Community stats

Your Flick Profile shows how you compare to other listeners: average ratings, popular genres, and so on. These are always calculated as totals, averages, and counts on our server, never as a list of individual people's ratings. A stat only appears once at least 10 people are using the feature and at least 3 people have rated that particular movie. Below that, we show a placeholder instead of a number that could be traced back to one or two people.

The Helmet

If you submit a movie suggestion, you're asked for a first name or nickname. This is shown publicly alongside your suggestion, so don't use anything you wouldn't want public. It's stored on our server with your suggestion and optional comment, and a copy is emailed to the show's hosts so they see new submissions.

Contact form

If you reach out through the app's Contact form, we collect your name (or "App User" if you leave it blank), your email, and your message so we can read and reply to you. We only use your email to respond. It's never used for marketing and never shared with anyone else.

Crash reporting

If the app crashes or hits an unexpected error, a report is sent to our crash-reporting service (Sentry) so we can fix it. These reports never include your name, email, precise location, or a screenshot of your screen, just technical details like which feature was active and the error itself. We don't record screen sessions.

What we never collect

We don't collect your precise location, access your contacts, or use your camera. Voicemail recording happens entirely on SpeakPipe's secure page, inside a secure in-app browser window. Because of how that browser window works, the app has to declare microphone permission, but the app itself never requests, hears, or stores your audio or the recording.

Third-party services

• The Movie Database (TMDB): posters and movie data
• Deezer and Apple (iTunes): song preview audio
• Supabase: anonymous data storage described above
• Sentry: crash reports
• Expo, Apple, and Google: push notification delivery
• SpeakPipe: voicemail recording

Each operates under its own privacy policy for the data it needs to provide its service.

Your control over your data

• From the More tab's "Your Data" section, tap Delete My Data to permanently remove every listener rating, listening/download record, and push notification token tied to your anonymous ID from our server. This can't be undone.
• Turning off all notification types also removes your push token right away.
• Tap Clear Local Data to erase what the app stores only on your device (saved items, downloads, playback positions) without affecting server data.
• To delete a Helmet submission or Contact message, email us at contact@3guysandaflick.com.

Data retention

We keep your data until you delete it or we retire the feature it supports.

Children

This app is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we'll update this page and, where reasonable, note it in the app.
