Short Plot Summary
In a future where the polar ice caps have melted and Earth is covered by ocean, a mutated loner known as the Mariner survives by trading dirt, salvaging supplies, and avoiding human connection. When he crosses paths with Helen and a young girl named Enola, whose tattoo may point to the mythical Dryland, they are hunted by the Deacon and his army of Smokers. To survive, the Mariner must choose between isolation and protecting the people who may hold humanity’s last hope.
